Sponsor Opportunities

Alberta ICT is an industry-led not-for-profit organization mandated to support and develop companies working in Alberta’s Information and Communication Technology sector. Council activities involve coordinating industry stakeholders and aligning resources to support product commercialization. The council works at both the sector and company levels; at the sector level, council activities work to coordinate sector resources that support new business opportunities, partnering, and market development; at the company level, the council supports entrepreneurs as they develop, commercialize, and sell their products.

The council and its board of volunteers work in conjunction with public-sector stakeholders to coordinate development and commercialization activities at the regional, provincial, and national levels. Additionally, the council works to increase the profile of the sector through relationships with other industry groups and contacts in foreign jurisdictions. Examples including the Canadian Digital Media Network (a national Center of Excellence in Commercialization), ITAC, other provincial ICT associations, and Canada’s trade embassies.

As an industry association, the Alberta ICT supports the needs of large and small businesses through its publications, connector events, networking opportunities, advocacy, and sector promotion. Additionally, the council’s programs and events are designed to develop technical and business skills within its member community. Finally, the council works to promote the adoption of Alberta-based ICT products and services through general awareness campaigns that address opportunities to improve productivity.

As a leader in Alberta’s technology sector, the Alberta ICT works with educators, researchers, and public sector support groups to integrate general commercialization activities with our member companies in order to reduce duplication and to cross-promote programs between various technology sectors. In its capacity as a leader, the ICT Council works with other industry leaders to address opportunities and barriers that impact our members. The Alberta ICT Industry Association (under ICT Council) is a registered lobby group in Alberta.

Sources of Funding

In 2010, the Alberta ICT Council’s activities were supported through a budget totaling less than $350,000. The 2011 budget was funded through public and private sector sponsors, member fees, event fees, and advertising revenues. To stabilize operations, it is important to develop repeatable annual events and secure long-term relationships with its members and sponsor organizations. Sponsors benefit through industry integration, increased awareness, networking, and B2B opportunities.

The benefits of a strong industry association are numerous; building such an organization requires commitment from the community. Participating as a sponsor is beneficial to your organization as well as the community.
